Behind the 'Tales of Market Street'

Hello again. I am thrilled to be able to announce that my second book is officially published!

This was my second attempt at self-publishing, and I have to say, the process was much easier. I know second books tend to have a bad reputation - and I certainly won't dispute that right now because writing it was another story - but I did give myself the better solution by writing a collection of short novellas instead of a whole novel.

Which bring me to my current book...

The Tales of Market Street came together quite quickly. I already had the idea of doing it - perhaps, at least, two years ago - but it was certainly not at the top of my to-do list. I initially hoped to get my trilogy fully finished and out of the way first. But things... happened, as they tend to do. Ideas formed. Plans changed. Mainly, the big decider for me in the end was because I was losing motivation after the publication of my first book. And truthfully, I am glad in the end I chose that route. Not only did I learn more about this world that I was creating, and in turn created new rules and systems (such as the 'horas' and 'seasons' and 'yalendir cycles' - all of which is explained in the glossary at the back of the book), but I was also able to develop my writing more through it. It turned out to be a great learning experience.

And for those of you, who have not yet read my 'Apprentices of Galena' trilogy; Market Tales is a great place to start.

I always had the idea to write it as a prequel. But choosing the characters was the hardest part of brainstorming. Who did the readers what to see more of? And who was interesting enough to have their own story? Two very important questions. And you have to let me know if I picked the good ones...

There were plenty characters in the end that I unfortunately had to cut from the final collection. Not only would it make the book far longer than I intended, but I really struggled to find ways in which to finish those other stories. But who knows, maybe one day I shall release a new set of novellas, or include these stories as bonus content. That is a future me query.

I think I've waffled on for far too long. As always, thank you so much for supporting me, whether you read my book or not, whether you liked it or not, thank you for being here all the same.
